Cats = female, feminine. Those with latent leanings or those with a masculinity crisis cannot ever admit they care for something. Something has to care for them. Cats have two strikes against them, the assignment of feminine traits, and their independence. You'll find those qualities are in the women they hate too.

Others are easygoing and loving. However, even the meanest cats can warm up to you eventually. Cats are generally selective in who they show affection to, and you have to work to earn that privilege, but once you do, you feel special. "Cats kill birds." Things that could be wrong with a cat include: Physical illness. Physical injury. A need for more exercise/play.

Keep treats on you at all times in the beginning. If the cat does anything you like (uses the scratching post, allows pets, stops when you say stop) say a command ('good job') and give her a treat. That way in the future if you don't have a treat on you the cat will actually register when you tell him good job.
